STANZA are architects Katarina Steul Zatkova and Francois Steul. Our work spans a wide range of scales, from furniture and interior objects to residential and public buildings, as well as urban and territorial studies.
We understand design as a complex discipline that responds to the specificities of each site, the people who inhabit it, and the future it will shape. Our work seeks clarity, longevity, and meaningful spatial experiences through thoughtful, context-sensitive design.
Our international experience in practice, research, and teaching enables us to combine conceptual thinking with technical expertise, creating architecture that is precise, enduring, and responsive to place.
KATARINA STEUL ZATKOVA
Katarina studied architecture at the University of Liverpool and the University of Cambridge, UK, where she completed her Master’s degree in the studio led by Ingrid Schröder. She gained professional experience at Baumschlager Eberle Architekten in Hamburg and Kleihues + Kleihues Architekten in Berlin. She taught architecture and urban design at the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava.
FRANCOIS STEUL
Francois studied architecture at the Accademia di Architettura in Mendrisio, Switzerland, where he completed his diploma in the studio of Valerio Olgiati. He worked for several architectural practices in Zürich and Berlin, including Wiel Arets Architects, 10:8 Architekten, and Theo Hotz Partner Architekten. He currently collaborates with Jabornegg & Pálffy Architekten in Vienna.
